MLB All Star Game
The Major League All Star game is set to be played next Tuesday. At this point, I wonder why they even bother as viewership is less and less each year. I’m assuming that MLB is pulling in a bundle from the TV rights. Let’s face it…the All Star game has become a popularity contest instead of a game that rewards the player that is having an All Star year.
Turning the voting over to the fans was the worst mistake that baseball could have done as that is what turned it into a popularity contest. It should be the players voting on which player should be the starter and then the manager would select the alternates and the pitchers. There are players playing in the game just because of their name or their previous good years. It is a sham and for me has lost all the luster that used to be the All Star game. Everyone has their opinion, and this is mine.
